Summary: This grant will enable the Sea Turtle Preservation Society (STPS) to purchase a stranding and transporting vehicle to be used for transporting sea turtles in Brevard and surrounding counties. Vehicle would also support transports for FWC and turtle facilities. STPS will provide half of the purchase price of a vehicle as match.
Results: A low mileage vehicle was obtained and some equipment and accessory modifications were made to improve the vehicle. This included seats, hand free phone connection, backup camera, curtains, and mats for the cargo area. The min-van has been used for several transports during the grant period and to show at events. Transports of sea turtles include for other sea turtle groups and in assisting FWC in moving turtles from facility to facility.
