Summary: This project will allow Sea Turtle Preservation Society to print and
distribute a selection of outreach media with targeted audiences. .There are specific messages to
residents, visitors, boaters and sport fishing. High quality visible banners and "Attention
Boaters" signs to be displayed, and "Lights Out" brochures to be distributed. STPS recently
placed banners in six resort hotel to test acceptance and past rack card projects have proven
valuable in getting a message out to the public
Results: Educational materials and signs were created and produced to inform residents and visitors in Brevard County, Florida about the need for lights out during nesting season. Additional metal signs have been placed at many boat ramps and marinas in the county, informing boaters about sea turtles in the areas of the Atlantic Ocean, Indian River Lagoon and the Banana River Lagoon.
