Summary: This project will maintain loggerhead sea turtle habitat restoration efforts on Elliott Key within Biscayne National Park, FL. Project will aid in maintaining restored nesting beaches through removal of accrued marine during the nesting season.
Results: At the beginnig of the loggerhead sea turtle nesting sesaon, between May 1 - June 15, 2014, volunteers were transported to Elliott Key where they manually removed 1,084 lbs of marine debris from eight partially-restored loggerhead sea turtle nesting beaches. A total of 22 volunteers donated 132 volunteer-hours towards this effort.
