Project Manager: Joe Gerrity
Organization: City of Fernandina Beach (Florida Government)
Grant Amount: $10,000.00
Completion Date: 2014-11-06
Summary: In an effort to protect marine turtles, their nests, and hatchlings, the City of Fernandina Beach will modify and/or replace existing light fixtures at Main Beach Park. The project will upgrade the lighting at the Park to provide “Sea Turtle-Friendly” nesting beaches without compromising the safety of citizens during nighttime hours. The City will modify light pole height and install fixture replacements in two parking lots.
Results: The project is completed. The light fixtures were ordered from Ledtronics, Inc. in early May, 2014 and received on July 11, 2014. Vanguard Electrical Contractors, Inc. submitted the lowest of three bids for the job of modifying the height of seven (7) poles from 15 feet high to 12 feet high and mounting the FWC-approved LED light fixtures on each. In addition, Vanguard mounted two light fixtures at a lower position on an existing 30' pole. They completed the work by August 2,2014.
