Summary: The Volusia Marine Science Center (VCMSC) will purchase and install a new live view video camera, 55-inch TV monitor, and four interactive touchscreen displays throughout the center in Ponce Inlet. The camera and TV monitor will allow visitors to view select veterinary procedures as they happen. In addition to the camera and TV monitor, guests will have access to interactive video, audio, and multimedia content via four touchscreen monitors in the VCMSC exhibit gallery and turtle hospital areas of the VCMSC. These interactive displays will focus on man made threats to sea turtles, conservation, and rehabilitation efforts at the VCMSC.
Results: All equipment has been purchased, and installed. Equipment includes 1- Axis network camera, 1 - Samsung 55 inch TV/Monitor, 1 - tilting TV wall mount, and 4 - HP touch screen computer displays to be used as interactive educational kiosks. Power point presentations for the touch screen kiosks were developed, and are now available for guest use. Camera over our sea turtle surgery area is installed and showing live on the TV monitor. Announcements acknowledging support of the Sea Turtle Grant Program were sent in a press release, posted on the Volusia County Community Information Facebook page, and published in the Daytona Beach News-Journal October 2nd, 2020. A sign acknowledging support by the Sea Turtle Grants Program now hangs under the live view TV/Monitor.
