Summary: For over 20 years, The Turtle Hospital of Marathon has strived to provide the highest level of veterinary care to its endangered patients. Every year, over 20,000 people visit the Turtle Hospital, known for its commitment to sea turtle veterinary care. These visitors have the opportunity to observe sea turtles up-close and learn more about the species. In order to fully realize these goals, the Hospital needs to be able to maintain proper veterinary and diagnostic equipment.

Results: The funds received have contributed to the hospital's success in providing the best possible veterinary care for sick and injured sea turtles throughout the Florida Keys. The Turtle Hospital has ordered and received all items pertaining to the Idexx VetTest and VetLyte machines included in grant 09-010C. Items include Idexx fluid packs, Idexx cleaning solutions, Idexx conditioning solutions, Chloride electrode, Potassium electrode, Sodium electrode, pump plates, and replacement tubing. This equipment funded by the grant allows the VetTest and VetLyte machines to perform at an optimum level, ensuring accurate results. The test results are used in determining each patient's plan of care and, ultimately, the release date for their return to the wild
